From 1985 Willem devoted himself full time to be a professional artist. Since then, most of his output consisted of wildlife painting. Running parallel with his love for wildlife art is his passion for conservation of wildlife.
In 1991 his contribution to the 'Whale Tail` exhibition in Nairobi and Kenya was purchased by HRH Prince Bernard of the Netherlands from among five hundred wildlife paintings. Apart from being a master wildlife artist, Willem has also distinguished himself as a portrait, landscape and marine artist, due to his commercial art background.
